At some point of my parenting life I had to realize staying up late was damaging my entire next day. As much as I love having some self indulging time after kid goes to bed, I often pay a high price the next morning. So I've been slowly shifting my habits to go to sleep early enough (11:11 make a wish). This process has benefit me in waking up a bit more at ease. Considering I no longer have to deal with wake ups in the middle of the night, this change has brought me fresh mornings and the ability to be fully in it. There is this morning light that comes through the window, we stay there sometimes for 20 minutes before going on with our day. As much as mindfulness has become an overused and underrated word, this space in between sleep and a busy day puts me exactly where I need to be - right there and then.
